A New “We will not be Silent” T-shirt Incident on Stanton Island Ferry

When Stephanie Hunter got on the Stanton Island ferry on October 9, she was wearing a “We will not be silent” T-shirt.

“You better not wear that shirt on this ferry again,” she was told. “You remember what happened on the JetBlue flight?”

On October 23, she returned with a group of 100 friends, many of them wearing “We will not be silent” T-shirts.

The official statement from the Coast Guard? “It’s our policy in the Coast Guard that anyone is allowed to wear whatever they want.”
